30 New Clothes Challenge!
Lately I’ve been thinking of something with a good cause to blog about but is still related to fashion. I came up with a challenge for myself!
For the next 30 new pieces that I will be buying, I will only be purchasing from local designers or homegrown brands. What it means is I won’t be purchasing from anything international or imported for the next 30 pieces that I’ll be adding in my closet. I’m doing this to support our local fashion industry. I was very encouraged from a tweet I read a week ago that if we don’t start patronizing our products, eventually they’ll all die, and that’s very sad because our neighboring Asian countries have already evolved for the past few years, even in fashion, and we already got left behind.
I encourage you guys to also support our local fashion scene! Someone once commented on my blog that because we have very scarce resources, the tendency is we most of the time tend to purchase pieces from imported fast-fashion retailers (Topman and Topshop, Zara, Forever21, etc). I’m not saying that we should stop buying from them, but it’s also good that we make our purchasing power equal by investing from our local products so we could help the creative minds of our country grow.
I’ll blog about all the pieces I bought. I’ll indicate where I got it and how much it is so maybe if you also want to try what I’m going to do, you’ll know where to buy them!
